Beverly Hills Is Bringing Back Dinner and a Show, One Night at a Time

To the left of the lobby at the Beverly Hills Hotel, past the red-carpet arrival, a new room is set to open later this year. Its ceiling mural, by artist Caroline Lizarraga, shows the stars over Beverly Hills on May 12, 1912, the night the hotel opened. The room has 94 seats. Its plush banquettes all face a stage.

The hotel is calling it The Supper Club. In its September 28, 2026 announcement, the hotel calls this the most significant addition to the property since Paul Revere Williams designed the Crescent Wing in 1949. It will join a weekly schedule of live music with dinner that already exists in Beverly Hills, spread across a handful of rooms, each on its own days and hours.

A room built around the stage

Most of the city's other live music plays alongside dinner. At The Supper Club, the stage is the focal point of the room. Designer Ken Fulk pointed the banquettes toward the performers, and the hotel describes the music as "inseparable from the atmosphere of the room." Alex Le Roux of ALR Music is curating the lineup. The hotel's examples run from Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin to Sabrina Carpenter and Drake. Eater LA reported that jazz and instrumental music will be the base of the program, with soul and R&B also in the mix.

The hotel says the idea was first conceived a decade ago and shaped over years of conversations with neighbors. The Supper Club opens first. The rest of the new spaces follow:

  • A cocktail bar with an outdoor veranda overlooking the L.A. skyline
  • An indoor-outdoor lobby lounge serving coffee and high tea by day and cocktails in the evening
  • A screening room
  • A private dining room

Regulars at the existing rooms can relax. The hotel says the Polo Lounge, Fountain Coffee Room and Cabana Cafe "will remain unchanged," and the Beverly Press repeated that on October 8.

The chef came from a Rodeo Drive rooftop

The kitchen side of the story starts a few blocks south. Gucci Osteria, the Michelin-starred restaurant on the top floor of the Gucci boutique on Rodeo Drive, closed on Saturday, November 22, 2025, after a five-year run under the culinary direction of Massimo Bottura. Eater LA reported the closure, which head chef Mattia Agazzi confirmed.

Agazzi is now leading The Supper Club's kitchen. The hotel describes his menu as Italian at its core, built on California produce, coastal seafood, meats and handmade pasta. In Eater's account, he will bring his love of jazz into "improvisational food," served to the semicircle of banquettes facing the stage. For local diners, that means one of the most precise kitchens in Beverly Hills reopens on Sunset Boulevard, under a different roof, with a band in front of it.

Eater framed the opening as part of a wider pattern, saying "dinner-and-a-show culture will continue to come back in Los Angeles in a big way." Its examples included the Blue Note in Hollywood and Somerville in South Los Angeles. The one already inside Beverly Hills was Cipriani.

The week as it runs right now

Before The Supper Club opens, live music with dinner in Beverly Hills is a matter of picking the right room on the right night. Each venue has its own day and format.

Every day, late afternoon: Dante at The Maybourne. The Maybourne describes a daily Martini Hour from 3 to 5 p.m. with a live pianist and a DJ, plus martinis, pizza, seafood and oysters. It's over before most dinner reservations start.

Lunch and dinner, daily: the Polo Lounge. The Polo Lounge at 9641 Sunset Boulevard has live piano at lunch and dinner and light jazz at Sunday brunch on the patio. Once the hotel's new spaces open, the property will have background piano in one room and a full stage in another, a short walk apart.

Fridays, 6 to 9 p.m.: Costa Covo Osteria at L'Ermitage. L'Ermitage hosts live music every Friday with Mediterranean food and cocktails, and posts each month's performers. On October 30, the night after this post runs, the performer is John Proulx. It wraps up at nine, earlier than any other evening slot on this list.

Thursday through Saturday, late: Cipriani's Jazz Café. Upstairs at Cipriani Beverly Hills, 362 N. Camden Drive, the Jazz Café runs Thursday through Saturday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., and the kitchen closes at 11. The restaurant's main page also lists Wednesday, so call ahead before planning a midweek night. The Los Angeles Times described it in early 2025 as a dinner room with rotating live music, jazz standards and soul, serving a shorter version of the Cipriani menu.

Put together, the current week has an afternoon slot, a daily piano, one early Friday set and one late-night room. Until now, Cipriani's upstairs café has been the only stop on that list with the music billed ahead of the food. The Supper Club will be a second, and it will sit at the far end of town from Camden Drive.

November adds a stage of a different kind

The music isn't limited to restaurants this fall. Three dates on the calendar fit the same pattern of an evening organized around a performance.

Date Where What
November 6 to 22 The Wallis, Lovelace Studio Theater Radio Galaxy
Thursday, November 19 Rodeo Drive Rodeo Drive Holiday Lighting Celebration, a free evening of music and dance
December 12 The Wallis Jason Robert Brown & Friends

The holiday lighting has a new feature this year. The Rodeo Drive Committee held its first Rodeo Drive Has Talent call, which took applications from September 14 to October 12 and picked one act to perform on November 19. November 19 is also a Thursday, the first night of Cipriani's posted Jazz Café week. That makes it easy to see the lighting on Rodeo and then walk over to Camden for a late dinner.

The Wallis also has an earlier date for families. Its calendar lists Family Fest | Día de los Muertos on Sunday, November 1. That's the same morning as the Sunday farmers' market on the 9300 block of Civic Center Drive, a weekly anchor we covered in our look at Beverly Hills' summer rhythm.

What will decide how The Supper Club fits in

The hotel's announcement left several basics open. As of its September 28 release and the Beverly Press report on October 8, The Supper Club had no public opening date, reservation system, hours, prices or set music nights. Each of those details will shape how the room fits into the rest of the week.

Nights matter most. If The Supper Club books Thursday through Saturday like Cipriani's Jazz Café, the city will have two late rooms going on the same nights, one on Sunset and one on Camden. If it fills Sunday through Wednesday, the live-music week stretches to cover days that currently have only piano and the afternoon Martini Hour.

Size matters too. At 94 seats, the room is built for the experience the hotel describes, where the hotel says "artists, musicians, filmmakers, business leaders and other familiar faces naturally cross paths." A room that small usually means reservations go fast once booking opens. The Polo Lounge's piano will still be there for the nights you can't get a table.

The other new spaces will fill in the rest of the day. A veranda bar, high tea in the lobby lounge and a screening room give the hotel something for most hours, from tea to the last set. For anyone who lives within a few minutes of Sunset Boulevard, that adds a lot of options close to home. You can read more about the city on our Beverly Hills neighborhood page, and our Metro station post covers the evenings one stop east.
